JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 23 June 2026. What if the patterns woven throughout creation were pointing to something greater? That question sits at the heart of "El Shaddai," the powerful new single from Cape Town-based worship artist and registered professional engineer Bunty, releasing on 3 July 2026.
Born in Zambia to Ugandan parents, Bunty moved to South Africa in 2002 to study Electrical Engineering. It is a background that has shaped not just his career, but the very way he views the world. Inspired by years of reflection on both Scripture and the intricate design found throughout nature, "El Shaddai" is a bold reminder that God is present, active, and sovereign at every level of existence.
The idea for the track first emerged in 2007 while Bunty was researching pattern recognition and chaos theory. Fascinated by fractals—patterns that repeat themselves across different scales in nature, like a fern—he began to see a deeper spiritual picture emerge.
"As I studied these patterns, I was struck by the fact that the same design appears over and over again, whether you’re looking at something vast or microscopic," Bunty explains. "It reminded me that God is not only the God of the universe, but also the God of the smallest details. Whether it’s the sun, moon, and stars, our own bodies, or things we cannot even see — God is God."
Also drawing inspiration from scriptural passages that celebrate majesty in creation, "El Shaddai" invites listeners to pause and rediscover wonder in both the extraordinary and the everyday. "Faith doesn’t simply influence my songwriting," he says. "Faith isthe songwriting process."
The track delivers an energetic and distinctive sonic footprint. Originally written with a driving rhythm inspired by Kizomba—the popular genre of dance and music originating from Angola—the song evolved significantly through a creative partnership with acclaimed South African worship leader and producer Neville D. The Grammy-nominated songwriter has served as Bunty’s collaborator throughout his debut project, a process Bunty describes as a demanding but deeply formative three-year “boot camp.”
"Neville took the song to another level," says Bunty. "He infused Afro-fusion and Afro-beat elements into the track, even incorporating a Gqom drumbeat. The result is something that immediately grabs your attention."
While the production is intentionally bold, Bunty hopes listeners leave with more than just a memorable melody. "My prayer is that people are drawn in by the music but stay because of the message. I hope it provokes thought. I hope people begin looking around them and realising that creation itself speaks to the wonder and greatness of God."
"El Shaddai" follows Bunty’s debut single, “Thank You,” which featured John Ellis (TREE63) and received support from multiple Christian radio and television stations across South Africa. After more than two decades of faithfully carrying these songs, this new release represents the next chapter for an artist dedicated to purposeful storytelling and creating music with lasting impact.
About BUNTY:
Bunty is a Cape Town–based artist, worship leader, and registered professional engineer whose music is shaped by a deeply lived faith. Born in Zambia to Ugandan parents, he speaks English and Runyankore, his mother tongue from Western Uganda. He moved to South Africa in 2002 to study Electrical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. While building a successful career in the power sector, he spent more than two decades serving in worship ministry and developing his craft as a songwriter.Influenced by the reggae sounds of his childhood, as well as artists such as Lauryn Hill and Israel Houghton, Bunty blends reggae, R&B, and rock into songs that reflect real life and point listeners to Jesus. He came to faith in his late teens and began leading worship in his early twenties, with songwriting emerging as a natural expression of that journey. His debut project was developed over 2.5 years alongside Grammy-nominated producer Neville D. His debut single, “Thank You” featuring John Ellis (TREE63), reached #1 on the CCFM Top 20. Bunty is married and based in Cape Town.

Bunty is a Cape Town–based artist, worship leader, and registered professional engineer whose music flows directly from a deeply lived faith. After more than 20 years balancing a successful power-sector career with his calling in music, he is now releasing his debut project.
Born and raised in Zambia to Ugandan parents, Bunty’s mother tongue is Runyankore from Western Uganda. He moved to South Africa in 2002 to study Electrical Engineering at the University of Cape Town, where his professional journey began.
Music, however, was always present. He grew up in a home filled with reggae, dancing to records even during difficult seasons — sounds and memories that continue to shape his music today.
In his late teens, Bunty came to faith in Christ. By his early twenties, as he immersed himself in Scripture, church, and worship, he picked up a guitar for the first time and began leading worship. Songwriting soon followed as a natural overflow. He describes his faith itself as the songwriting process.
His sound blends reggae rhythms, R&B warmth, and rock energy, with influences ranging from Lauryn Hill to Israel Houghton. His songs are honest, story-driven reflections on real life — written not for performance, but to point listeners back to Jesus.
The debut project was developed over 2.5 years alongside Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer, and singer Neville D, with a collective of musicians contributing to the journey. Bunty describes the process as a demanding but deeply formative “boot camp.”
He is open about the pressure within Christian music to chase numbers and visibility, choosing instead to prioritise faithfulness, character, and lasting impact. His debut single, “Thank You”, featuring John Ellis (TREE63), released on 20 March 2026.
Bunty’s goal is simple: to make honest music that helps people connect with faith in a real and lasting way. He is married and based in Cape Town.
