Multi Platinum Selling Rock Band

Prime Circle Bio 2026

Multi-platinum, South African-born rock band Prime Circle celebrated 25 years in 2025 and currently touring with their eighth studio-album, The World We Know. Over the years, they have earned multiple South African Music Awards (SAMAs), and most recently took home the 2025 Afri-Indie Award for Best Rock Album. The same album was also nominated for Best Rock Album of the Year at the SAMAs in 2025.

Since their formation in 2000, Prime Circle has delivered multi-platinum sales, chart-topping singles, and sold-out tours across South Africa. The band originated in the small mining town of Witbank, now officially known as eMalahleni ("place of coal" in Zulu).

Along the way, they’ve shared stages with legends such as Metallica, Seether, Live, and Collective Soul, and ignited audiences at the historic 46664 Nelson Mandela concerts — twice.

Their influence now extends far beyond South Africa, with major inroads into the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Portugal, as well as the Middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain). Through touring, radio play, and headline festival slots, they’ve built a loyal global following and cemented their reputation as one of South Africa’s most successful musical exports.

Closer to home, The World We Know has received overwhelming support from South African radio — with more than 35 commercial and community stations across the country playlisting their music. The band continues to perform at corporate events, major festivals, and media engagements, and remain deeply grateful for the unwavering support from fans, radio, and industry partners alike.

Prime Circle are: Gavin Edwards (vocals, guitar), Marco Gomes (founder, bass), Dirk Bisschoff (guitar), Dale Schnettler (drums), and Neil Breytenbach (keyboard).

25 Years of Prime Circle: Band Drops New Single "Unsteady Hearts" Ahead of Major Anniversary Tour wi

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA (October 29, 2025) – South African rock band Prime Circle are celebrating a monumental milestone: 25 years of anthems, eight studio albums, and unforgettable live performances. To mark the occasion, the band has released a new rock ballad, "Unsteady Hearts," and announced a nationwide anniversary tour featuring chart-topping close friends and fellow powerhouses Lee Cole, TREE63, Cantrel, and The Black Cat Bones.

The tour announcement coincides with the release of "Unsteady Hearts," releasing 7 November 2025, a track that bassist and founding member Marco Gomes describes as a "Easy listening rock ballad" with a powerful message.

"The main theme is not to settle," says Gomes. "Life is short, and you have to make the best of what you've got. If you're sharing your life with somebody, it should be with a person where you make each other better people. But this message extends beyond relationships; it could be about a job, a friendship, or any situation where you are staying put when you should be moving forward." The song, written collectively on the tour bus, was intentionally kept simple. "We wanted to keep everything as basic as possible, letting the melody and the song itself do the talking, which is a bit of a departure from some of our other work," vocalist Gavin Edwards adds.

The 25th Anniversary Tour, presented by Madhouse Concepts and powered by Jackpot City, Southern Sun, RocoMamas, Hyundai, Cheeky Monkey, Flysafair and Jameson, will travel through Gauteng, the Western Cape, the Garden Route, the Eastern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal.

"This milestone means a lot to us. I'm just so honoured and humbled that two and a half decades later, we can still go on another tour and celebrate this," says Gomes. "It’s 25 years of music, memories, and incredible support from our fans."

Joining them on tour is the unstoppable Lee Cole, one of South Africa’s fastest-rising musical talents. 2025 saw him opening for Robbie Williams and supporting Prime Circle on their European tour, the 2025 Afri-Indie Award winner for Best Male Singer has taken local radio by storm with hits like “Blind,” “Headrush,” and “Honey, Let Me In.” “Lee has that X-factor,” says Gomes. “He’s got a rare combination of vocal power and authenticity. He brings something truly special to this tour.”

Also joining the lineup is the legendary TREE63, led by frontman John Ellis. The band, beloved for global hits like “Blessed Be Your Name,” “Treasure,” and “A Million Lights,” is set to release new music this November. "In times when rock ‘n roll bands are finding it tougher to exist, Prime Circle have kept a proud tradition alive for over a quarter of a century, and that’s definitely something to celebrate!" says Ellis.

Also joining the tour is Cantrel, a Durban-based band led by Jesse Breytenbach. Rooted in 90s grunge, the group has toured locally and in Austria following the release of their debut album, 'Drive,' and the EP 'Something in the Orange.

Rounding out the explosive lineup is The Black Cat Bones. Described by Rolling Stone Magazine as ‘Wise and explosive,’ the Gauteng-based, multi-genre band is renowned for their captivating live performances and diverse repertoire. With five studio albums, their rigorous touring schedule and die-hard attitude have earned them a loyal following from all walks of life.

With a string of multi-platinum records, sold-out tours, and countless hits—including “Hello,” “Consider Me,” “Breathing,” and “She Always Gets What She Wants”— Prime Circle’s legacy is firmly cemented. But this tour isn't just about nostalgia. Gomes notes the band is connecting with a whole new generation of fans, citing a highlight of 2025 as "reconnecting with the music festivals in South Africa."

"We are reaching a whole new audience—a younger generation that is coming through," Gomes shares. "It's a great way to keep the band relevant and connect with people on a new level." This focus will continue into next year. "We are going to keep our focus on releasing new music. Releasing singles is one of the most important things we can do to stay relevant."

Reflecting on their 25-year journey, guitarist Dirk Bisschoff says the band’s biggest lesson has been gratitude. “Nothing is guaranteed. Everything can change in an instant, so you need to stay humble, appreciate the moment, and never take fans for granted, they’re the reason we’re still here.”

The supporting lineup varies by city and venue. Not all artists will perform at every show. Fans are urged to check the specific ticket and event info for their date to see the detailed lineup. Vocalist Gavin Edwards described the single as a reflection on struggle, renewal, and the people who walk with us through difficult seasons. “I’ve learned that failure isn’t the end—it’s the roadmap to who you’re meant to become. This song is for anyone who’s ever felt broken but kept fighting.”

Renegade

Calling On Angels

Calling On Angels

Renegade is an empowering anthem that channels the journey from pain into power—rejecting manipulation ("I won't be your puppet"), declaring rebirth ("I've now become the renegade"), and celebrating self-sufficiency ("brave enough to stand alone"). Filmed during their 2025 European tour, the video offers an unfiltered look at life on the road, perfectly mirroring the song’s anthemic call to break free.

What We Got

Making of the album

Standing Over Me

What We Got leans into our signature ballad style, bringing a reflective and raw emotional depth to the track.

The song emerged organically during a casual session in Gomes’ home studio, proving that sometimes the best creations aren’t planned. “We weren’t even intending to write a song that day,” said Gomes. “It just fell into place. Gavin started singing, and before we knew it, we had this track that perfectly captured the emotion we wanted to express.”

The World We Know marks Prime Circle’s first full-length album with Gavin Edwards, who contributes both as lead vocalist and co-songwriter. Initially envisioned as an EP for 2024, the chemistry and creative ease within the new lineup inspired them to exceed their expectations, ultimately producing a 10-track album and even more songs for future releases. “We couldn’t stop—every session kept sparking new ideas,” laughs Gavin. “We’re celebrating this full album, by creating more!”
